Cambridge, MA, November 7, 2017 — TriNetX, the global health research network for healthcare organizations, biopharmaceutical companies, and Contract Research Organizations (CROs), has demonstrated its commitment to security by earning certification to the rigorous ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Information Security Standard. The certification reinforces TriNetX’s dedication to conducting best practices and its determination to provide the highest level of information security for its clients.

ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is the globally recognized standard for instituting and maintaining information security management systems (ISMS) in organizations. It uses a risk-based approach to specify the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an ISMS within the context of the organization. The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification strengthens TriNetX’s position as a leader in the field of healthcare research.

“Healthcare organizations and pharmaceutical companies are extremely concerned about the security of patient data,” said Kshitij Kathuria, Vice President, Security and Compliance and Security Officer at TriNetX. “The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification demonstrates a clear commitment to information security management from TriNetX and assures customers that we have the preeminent security controls in place to handle their data.”

Official certification culminates a yearlong effort by the TriNetX team that included developing documentation for 10 major clauses of the Standard, implementing processes to comply with commonly accepted information security controls, and a thorough audit of its electronic and physical security policies and procedures. Certification to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 places TriNetX in a select group of companies that have gone through the certification process.

“The certification provides a framework to help ensure we can fulfill our commercial, contractual, and legal responsibilities,” said Chris Fraser, VP of Finance and Privacy Officer at TriNetX. “It gives our customers, members, and partners an independent opinion on our security posture which they can use to demonstrate due diligence on TriNetX as an organization.”

“Protecting patient data is our number one priority,” said Gadi Lachman, CEO of TriNetX. “We understand the importance of providing a secure environment for our healthcare customers and partners. This certification is another validation of that commitment.”
